Dental caries is one of the most important diseases of teeth. The oral environment is very rich in bacteria and these bacteria settle and multiply on the grooves and pits of teeth surfaces. They ingest food and drink then form a layer that covers the tooth surface. This layer is called bacterial plaque. The plaque is composed of bacteria in the mouth , can form acid residues of food remaining in the mouth of sugar and flour. These acids,  decompose tooth enamel by dissolving the mineral tissue of the teeth and causes dental caries.

 

Why deciduous teeth are weaker than permanent teeth to decays ?

The thickness of the enamel and dentin of deciduous teeth, is about half the thickness of the enamel and dentin of permanent teeth. Also, deciduous teeth contains more organic matter compared to permanent teeth. Therefore deciduous teeth are more vulnerable than permanent teeth
